Head of Design Engineering (m/f/d) – Special-Purpose Machinery and Conveyor Systems

Your new challenges:

  • Technical and disciplinary leadership of the design engineering team, currently approx. 15 employees
  • Define and organize work packages / Plan and coordinate staff deployment
  • Close and regular coordination with group leaders / responsible design engineers and management of on-time, resource-appropriate execution across all projects
  • Onboarding, training, and further development of employees in coordination with technical management
  • Standardization and optimization of design processes and further development of internal design guidelines
  • Ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements in line with country-specific regulations (CE, UL, ATEX, …) in cooperation with technical management
  • Strategic and operational development of products with a focus on production-, assembly-, and service-friendly design
  • Close collaboration and interface with Sales, Project Management, Purchasing, and Assembly
  • Meeting quality and cost targets as well as on-time order processing

Your skills:

  • Successfully completed engineering degree with a focus on mechanical engineering or comparable (ideally in special-purpose machinery, plant engineering, or conveying technology)
  • Several years of professional experience in design engineering with corresponding leadership responsibility
  • Professional experience in general and cost-optimized steel construction and weld-friendly design, including large assemblies
  • Knowledge of machine component calculations, drive sizing, and strength calculations for components
  • Knowledge of FEM analysis is an advantage
  • Knowledge of creating risk assessments and the resulting standards- and safety-compliant design (person/machine safety) is an advantage
  • Very good resource and time management skills
  • Confident use of the CAD programs Inventor and AutoCAD is an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities
  • An independent and meticulous way of working
  • Creativity and strong execution skills
